The tractor in the foreground is running  you can see as the exhaust cover is pushed up.

He just jump started it from his truck.

The tractor in front of it we will pull with a chain to get it started.

I did the pulling with him on the other one giving it the gas.

That was truly a thrilling experience for this old guy. (me).

Both these tractors are almost as old as I.

You can see his beautiful organic alfalfa in the background with the Costal Range beyond.

Some of that alfalfa will be going to our cows over the next several months.

The farm is located just north west of UC Davis.

That was about the first of Sep. 2014.

 

Newest addition to our farm, Guinea Hens!

Sometimes called Guinea Foul or African Pheasants, these birds are most entertaining to have around and oh so delicious!

We have been preparing them just like we do chicken...and find their taste to be somewhat of a cross between chicken and turkey.

Two Great People Share One Special Day

It is August 24th once again.  On this day, I remember my Dear Father, John Anthony Volpe--also known as Giovanni Antonio Volpe...who died in my Mother's arms on this day.  A couple of years later, our son, IAN (!) decided it was time to appear on Earth...on August 24th.  Today we are celebrating his 14th revolution around the sun, and thanking his Grandfather for the grand opportunities in LIFE that we enjoy...which His work and His WISDOM helped to pave the way for!  Bless Us All, Everyone!
